New York based Consumer Products business is seeking an Accounting Controller, to join in a newly created leadership position.
Accounting Controller Responsibilities:
This is a new role with responsibility to be the senior finance person on the team. Initial reports will be two junior accountants – AR and AP/Inventory. Key areas of focus:
- Take ownership and provide direct leadership over all aspects of accounting, including the chart of accounts, month end processes, systems architecture etc.
- Manage full cycle month and quarter-end financial statement close process of all areas of accounting, including approval and posting of journal entries and review of reconciliations ensuring proper accuracy
- Provide day-to-day operational support and management of various matters with respect to accounting and reporting
- Collaborate with the Warehouse teams to create and execute a roadmap related to all aspects of inventory reporting automation
- Establish business processes to address new, emerging, and evolving control requirements
- Assist in the planning and budgeting process to create budgets and monitor actuals
- Lead quarterly reviews, field audits by lenders and year-end external audit
- Build and manage relationships with various business leaders throughout the Company, and work with them to prioritize business requirements/projects as they relate to accounting and reporting
- Manage, mentor and train direct reports
- Support with various related cross functional projects across the company, as the business scales and as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- Minimum 10 years of experience
- CPA Preferred
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work with high degree of accuracy
- Ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Must be self-motivated and professional
- Salary $140,000-$150,000
