Global Banking institution is seeking an Operations Team Lead in a newly created leadership role in their New York City office.


  • Operations Team Lead will supervise back-office operations including Treasury Back Office, Loan Back Office, USD Clearing operation and Trade Finance Back Office.
  • Act as a liaise between Relationship Managers, Operations and business partners in Treasury, Compliance, Risk and Finance.
  • Maintain the Bank internal control standards are followed by all back-office teams.
  • Work with management to identify workflow changes and process improvements, to improve process efficiencies and customer experience.
  • Ability to ensure procedures and policies are current and consistent with Bank requirements.
  • Minimum of an annual certification required.
  • Successfully ensure proper controls are in place to mitigate risks or exposure to the Bank.
  • Evaluate and monitor the adequacy of existing services provided along with related procedures; ability to make improvements.
  • Successfully provide oversight for the offshore teams, escalate to management accordingly.
  • Maintain the bank internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Operations team lead will provide adequate training to the staff and support other departments’ functions.
  • Ensure all Operational procedures and policies adhere to all local regulations, compliance, Head Office and Audit requirements.
  • Partner closely with Front Office, Compliance, Finance, Information Technology and Management to ensure operational support is provided to the bank.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, Masters Degree preferred but not required
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working in Bank operations with payments, foreign exchange, and Middle Office capacity.
  • Bilingual in Mandarin and English verbally and in written form, is required.
  • Knowledge of Loan, Treasury, Trade Finance and Payment operations to supervise back office.
  • Strong business and technical skills, to supervise all processes in the operations department.
  • Strong understanding of procedures and policies, instruction manuals, and Internal Audit recommendations.
  • Ensure proper controls are in place to mitigate risks, protect information security, and minimize errors.
  • Evaluate and analyze the root causes of problems and offer quick solutions to avoid any client dissatisfaction.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with good listening skills.
  • Professionalism in dealing with clients and willingness to help.
  • Strong time management, attention to detail and multi-tasking skills. Strong accounting skills.

Salary range $170,000-$190,000, based on experience.
